Summary: In this article speaks of how the Palauan Airways were closed and forced tourists to cancel. It added that the service was suspended because of personnel problems, not because of reasons beyond the control of the airline. Because the tours were cancelled the day before departure, the travel agents are obligated to refund all the money of the tourists and compensation comparable to 50 percent of the cost of the tour. My View: I think that its ridiculous that Palau Airways had to cancel the service because the lease on the aircraft had expired and it has yet to confirm a lease on a new aircraft. They should have been prepared and made sure the lease was confirmed before agreeing to fly people and they should have given at least notified the tourists a week before the departure was supposed to happen. The flights to and from Palau only happen on a weekly basis so I suppose I can understand why it could be difficult, but it just seems like an unnescessary waste of time and money. |

Summary: This article explains eight different peculiar aspects about Palau, a country most people haven't heard of. Because it is not very well known, most people don't go to tour there even though a great amount of Palau's economy depends on tourism. My View: The article was very well written. It gave several interesting facts about Palau, it even included the country's delicacy, Fruit Bat Soup! I also learned something new from this article and discovered that Palau has a matriarchal society. The wives have control over their husband's earnings and a husband must ask his wife in order to buy something. It is also the world's first and only shark sanctuary. Overall, this article establishes many key points about Palau while including interesting facts. Its a terrific paper and I was able to learn very much about Palau in a few short minutes. |
